On my way home

By: Brandon Dirks

We were touring from 7:30am to 8:30pm on Saturday, so I went right to bed. Sorry I was too tired to write anything for the blog!  We tour on Sunday, and then leave for the airport at 10:30 pm. Looking forward to coming home (and seeing my Valentine!), but also I’m sad to leave this wonder-filled country and area. I’ve learned so much, and felt so deeply, I’m praying that I come home a better citizen of the world, a more committed disciple, and just an all around better human being.

Enjoy some photos from Egypt:

Mosque of King Mohammed Ali

Mosque of King Mohammed Ali (built in 1831) inside the walls of the amazing Citadel built by Saladin in the 12th Century

My Cairo! From the Citadel

St Mary's Coptic Church

St. Mary’s Coptic church. Most famous church in Cairo because it is built on top of a tower. Known as “the hanging church.”

St Mary's pulpit

Cool pulpit in St. Mary’s. Supported by 13 different pillars. One for Jesus. One black one for Judas, one gray on for Doubting Thomas.

Shinx of Memphis with Brandon

Sphinx of Memphis. Probably Ramses II. Second largest Sphinx. Body of lion for strength and wisdom.

Pharoah Tomb Entrance 1

The entrance to the tomb of Pharaoh. I got to go in!

Step Pyramid Oldest

The oldest stone structure on the planet! Built 4,800 years ago for Pharaoh Zoser. Step pyramid is the only one that is an entire complex to mirror the earthly palace. Built by Imhotep.

  1. This is amazing. I’m in if there’s a next time. Travel safely. I know your family is ready to see you.

  2. Amazing photos – with the Kaffah you could be Brandon of Arabia! It seems as though except for that one day early on, you’ve been blessed with fine weather – clear skies. Thanks so much for doing these blogs and sharing your Journey. Rick Hale
PS – Got it with regard to the Zealots at Masada!

  3. Love your new hat!
